Who We Are
The Hub is a rural community development project based at St Peter’s Church in Peterchurch, in the heart of Herefordshire’s Golden Valley. We are a friendly group of like-minded individuals who want to make a difference to the lives of others. The Hub is a place where each of us can bring our own gifts and passions to help build a strong, resilient and sustainable local community.
The Hub seeks to provide the residents of the Golden Valley with a place to meet and socialise. It offers volunteering and training opportunities for local people, as well as wellbeing support and signposting to local services. Its café serves wholesome and affordable food and a volunteer-run branch of Herefordshire Libraries operates from its Bell Tower.
The Hub is grateful to National Lottery players; in May 2022, the project was awarded a second 3-year grant from The National Lottery Community Fund to continue and expand its wellbeing work in the Golden Valley.
The Hub needs more than financial support, however! People are at the heart of this community project and we rely heavily on volunteers to bake cakes, make soup, serve in our Café, help in our Library, make befriending telephone calls or run errands for people via our Community Helpline. There are many ways in which people can make a contribution so if you would like to do so, please do get in touch.
The fabulous Hub Café has comfy sofas, wifi and outdoor seating. It's a place to meet friends, relax, read a paper and enjoy delicious food and home-baked cakes.
A fully functioning branch of Hereford libraries is based in the Bell Tower. Browse and borrow from our great selection of books or order any book from the full library catalogue.
Lots of great activities take place at The Hub including Community Choir, Chatty Café and Stillpoint Meditation.
The Hub hosts regular exhibitions and a variety of events: art classes, creative workshops, nature talks, live music and much more!
We are one of Herefordshire Council's Talk Community Hubs and have a staffed information point on the mezzanine where you can come and get information, signposting and support. We also have an informal Community Helpline which local residents may use to request help from one of our volunteers. Visit our Support page for more information.
